Why is Kung fu different?
We currently will not go to the discussion who is first and where did which line start in fighting styles, however, Kung fu has its distinct roots in China. Which means that the Confusian, Taoist and Buddhist teachings have its strongest influence on the technique and filosophy of Chinese Martial Arts. The base of all these teachings is respect (not the western 2 finger system with a hood, bro) and acceptance. Someone in Chinese Martial Arts will not attack first (unlike many other fighting styles). This is why many people call it a 'defensive fighting sport'.
This is the major biggest difference with other fighting styles: Adapt to the situation and resolve the conflict taking minimum damage. There is more, but this will be detailed later.
